Description

Transportation is a key function in logistics and supply chain management. This course introduces transportation from managerial and technical perspectives. Topics covered include: the role of transportation in supply chain management and global trade, an overview of various transportation industries (motor carrier, railroad, airline, maritime, multimodal, etc.), carrier and shipper strategies, and transportation challenges and issues. The students are also exposed to mathematical models and techniques for planning and managing long-haul and short-haul freight transportation.
