Description

Prerequisite: Successful completion of at least three Language Center level
II courses
Possible Corequisite: ENG 1301
This course offers basic study skills and information literacy skills preparing
students for academic success at AUI. Students are trained to take
responsibility for their own learning through tasks that require them to
reflect on, as well as evaluate, their current study habits, and to implement
new strategies that improve their learning. Students are also introduced
to the Information Literacy Skills necessary to communicate effectively in
online, classroom, academic and group contexts. These skills include being
able to locate, evaluate, synthesize, and present information efficiently and
effectively. They learn and practice the principles of effective academic
research, and demonstrate their mastery in a final project. This course can
be waived upon successful completion of a placement test. This course can
be waived upon meeting portfolio requirement
