Description
SSAHRA is an attempt to produce an immersive pedagogical and intellectual community with the goal of preparing its participants for AUI graduate progams at the School of Social Sciences, Art, and Humanities. SSAHRA synthesizes the following:
1. our belief in the uniqueness of the AUI classroom which underlies our faith that preparation for this educational journey requires inhabiting those uniquely promising spaces and dynamics;
2. the power of interdisciplinary liberal arts pedagogy that does not neatly delineate nor creates a hierarchy between "skills" and "content" (or those who teach skills versus content experts);
3. the organic nature of learning communities that allow for clarification of purpose and a fluid connection between the classroom and the world outside, in the present, and for the future.
