Description

This course provides an overview of all the main aspects of cognitive psychology and all of their associated disorders. The course will look at the normal development of certain types of cognitions followed by related disorders. The two will then be compared and contrasted. We will look at some structures of the brain and how they relate to cognition, but most of the focus will be on psychological aspects of cognitive disorders. The course will be broken into units on basics of cognition, perception, attention, memory, thinking and problem-solving, language, and emotions. After taking this course, students will be able to identify the different areas of the brain that contribute to the different types of cognition. They will also be able to compare healthy cognitive functioning to cognitive disorders.
