Blecher article on Hadith response

For this upcoming class on Tuesday, we will be looking at an example of Hadith and commentary on it. In preparation, please reader J. Blecher's "A Newly Discovered Manuscript" article from The Atlantic. You will notice that this is a very different kind of article from the last one. By the start of class on Tuesday, please post a short response to these two questions:

(1) In a sentence, summarize the contents of the article.

(2) What is the message Blecher is wanting to communicate here? What is the argument he is making about hadith and history?
