*Sunnis and Shiists are both Muslims. They both do pray, fast, give zakat and believe that Mohammed peace be upon him is the prophet of God. Still, they are considered as different branches of Islam due to the fact that after the death of the prophet Mohammed peace be upon him, each branch took a different person as a khalif. In addition, each of them do interpret the krona differently. Those two points of disagreement had as a result a series of battles between both parties such as Jamal's Battle and Battle of Siffin. The real war between Sunnis and Shiists still did not start really in Iran until the revolution had began where things got completely got out of control.

* A thing that I found interesting is that the Shiists believe that there is still another messenger of God named El Mehdi that will show up at the end of times to establish again peace and justice in the world.
