Do you see anything in the images here that would support that idea (choose 1-2 images)? What do you think the author means by 'merging their indigenous practices with Islam?' That is, can 'Islam' be separated from other components of culture in this setting?
I selected the picturs of salma Diaz Palamo and angel Lopez. Both pictures reflects a melting pot of culture and religion. This means that religion can be adapted to different cultures. Thus, this is considered to be a new merging identity for the muslim community. All in all, culture and religion can be aligned if the words of gods are respected by each individual.
