Pre-requisite: HIS 1301 or HIS 2301 This course aims to survey world history in the twentieth century from a specifically international perspective - looking at war, diplomacy and cooperation between states. The origins, courses and outcomes of the two World Wars are studied as are other conflicts that have helped shape the international scene. The rise of the superpowers and the Cold War is examined together with the various efforts at international co-operation such as the League of Nations, the United Nations, European integration, and NATO.
