Academic Reading 1002 has two principal goals. The first aims towards a more interactive relation between the reader and the text. Focus will not be only on developing students' vocabulary, but will foster development of critical reading skills. The second goal is to enable students to develop some analytical techniques to understand a variety of academic text genres. Particular emphasis will be on recognizing text structure, rhetorical patterns, and other linguistic features typical of academic English texts.
